Korean Auto Companies to Open New Business Opportunities at MIMS2013

For the upcoming MIMS 2013 to be held from August 28 through September 1, the majority of global top-level auto makers and local parts manufacturers are planning to raise their global profile.

Some Korean large-size auto parts makers including Hyundai Mobis and about 50 small and medium-sized auto parts makers will present their advanced solutions to affirm their presence in their specific auto parts areas and boost their competitiveness in global markets.

Some Korean companies, especially, enterprises engaged in producing auto parts products will constitute the Korean Pavilion with the guidance of regionally based governments nationwide and specialty organizer Ain Global.

This year, Korean companies are showing their proactive approach to opening new potential overseas markets against increasingly competitive regional and global-level markets. Recently, 23 of the nation’s most important auto parts makers visited the Chinese mainland to confirm the market potential there and pioneer business opportunities as well.

The specialty sections of those companies consist of power train, electronic parts, and interior materials. Korean vehicle’s recent(May 2013) production fell by 0.9% year-on-year recording 385,371 units, due to some negative variables in production. Production to-date posted a loss of 3.8% over a year ago to 1,885,569 units.

In spite of new model release effects of Maxcruz, all new Carens and KorandoTurismo, local sales in May decreased 1.1% to 119,982 units, which is attributed to the overall economic sluggishness and diminished consumer purchasing power with the burden of household debt.

And exports in May stayed close to the last year’s level(- 0.3%), at 268,956units, thanks to improved product quality and brand awareness, increased preference for small sized cars and new model shipments such as Maxcruz, all new Carens, Trax and Korando Turismo.
