[INQ. NO. 2503M01] AHA Co., Ltd. recently announced that its 30kW power supply unit (PSU) for electric vehicle (EV) chargers, the first of its kind in Korea, has received UL certification. Through this, the company has secured a bridgehead for entering the U.S. market.
While Korean companies’ EV-charging infrastructure product lines are gaining prominence in the global EVC markets, PSUs, the core equipment of electric vehicle chargers, are still heavily dependent on Chinese products.
Since PSUs are expensive components, the Korean PSUs obtaining UL certification is all the more significant amid the recent U.S.-China trade dispute.
AHA’s 30kW PSU combines multiple low-power PSUs to provide a wide output voltage range of 300V to 1000V DC, and a maximum current of 100A. By applying power factor correction (PFC) technology, the product has achieved high efficiency of up to 96% and low standby power, and its patented PSU address auto-setting technology enables rapid diagnosis and replacement in the event of a failure.
AHA’s 30kW PSU was finally selected as a verification test product for the Ministry of Environment’s research project to strengthen the competitiveness of electric vehicle rapid charger PSUs conducted last year. It passed the Energy Star efficiency, reliability, and safety tests set by the Ministry of Environment, verifying its excellent performance.
Based on this success, AHA applied for slow chargers and fast chargers at the same time for the business operator selection contest of the 2025 charging facility subsidy payment project, and is currently waiting for the results.
AHA has invested more than KRW 1 billion in slow & fast chargers and PSU automatic inspection and durability test equipment, and is aiming to develop a 40kW PSU and a 480kW power bank by the end of 2025. After moving the R&D center to Magok-dong, Seoul, the company is converting the Gimpo headquarters in Gyeonggi-do into an electric vehicle charger production line, and is thus building the largest production base in Korea. AHA is currently negotiating with multiple companies for consignment production.
AHA has been exhibited EV chargers and PSUs at major international exhibitions such as CES 2024, GITEX 2024, and ISE 2025. It has received favorable reviews from overseas EV and PSU manufacturers, etc. AHA expects that overseas exports will begin in earnest with this UL certification.
