There are a lot of excitations that can cause vibration and noise by an engine in large vessels. They are sensitive to vibration because the structures of the body of a ship are composed mostly of water.
Weight-lightening of large vessels and high torque efficiency of engines are becoming inevitable topics to comply with the low-carbon policy of today’s world.
These problems can cause significant vibration in a cabin and create anxiety and health problems for passengers or sailors, so clients are also considering vibration suppression as a vital element.
CONTROL FACTORY developed the Intelligent Vibration Compensator (IVC) to solve such problems. IVC uses a principle that applies force in a certain direction using the vector sum of the centrifugal force generated by two imbalanced masses rotating in opposite directions.

Development of IVC for finding of the best phase and controlling force
To suppress vibration using this IVC, the axis of an engine and the IVC with the best phase should rotate to offset the excitation force created by driving the engine.
CONTROL FACTORY developed the IVC that can find the best phase and controlling force through a learning algorithm.

Verification of over 70% vibration suppressing effect
CONTROL FACTORY approved and verified the vibration-suppressing effect by applying it directly to BLCC and LNG lines using IVC.
The result showed that it can suppress vibration by over 70% compared to the vibration level before applying.
