Boosting the nation’s sustainable growth
Korea’s exports in September this year increased by over 12% compared to those of the same month of the previous year. According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE), exports last month totaled $65.95 billion (approximately KRW 93 trillion), marking a 12.7% increase year-on-year.
Exports increased for 10 of the 15 major export items, including semiconductors and automobiles.
Automobile exports, heavily impacted by U.S. tariffs, achieved a record high in September through export diversification, including finding new markets in Europe.
Automobile exports reached a record high of $6.4 billion, driven by increases in both eco-friendly vehicles and internal combustion engine vehicles including pure electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid vehicles. This represents a 16.8% increase compared to the same period last year, continuing the upward trend for four consecutive months.

Automobile exports to the United States in September decreased by 2.3% to $1.91 billion, despite being impacted by the 25% high tariffs. Conversely, automobile exports to the EU reached $700 million, a 54% increase year-on-year, and automobile exports to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) surged 77.5% to $610 million.
Exports of other major items also increased, including general machinery (10.3%), petroleum products (3.7%), ships (21.9%), auto parts (6.0%), displays (0.9%), biohealth (35.8%), textiles (7.1%), and home appliances (12.3%).
Korean exporters are ceaselessly developing and releasing competitive new items, which are expected to capture keen attention in global markets.

For example, Man&Tel is currently manufacturing several competitive rehabilitation medical devices including Dream’s Bicycle. All of its products help the elderly by preventing falls while walking, by improving muscle-strength and improving balance, and also avoiding dementia.
In addition, LN Robotics Inc. recently presented its surgical assistance robot, the All-purpose Vascular Intervention Assistance Robot (AIVAR).
