Hyundai Motor Co. Unveils NEXO Hydrogen EV Model & Ioniq 6 EV Model

https://korean-machinery.com///inquiry

[INQ. NO. 2504M13] Hyundai Motor Company recently unveiled its all-new NEXO, its new hydrogen-powered EV, and the new IONIQ 6, its dedicated EV, a world-first, at the Seoul Mobility Show 2025 held at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province, on April 5-13.
Jose Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, stated, “We will continue to innovate future mobility based on Hyundai Motor Company’s DNA. We will lead the era of electrification with high-quality products and a customer-centered product lineup.”

Hyundai Motor Company Unveils New Hydrogen EV, the All-New NEXO
Hyundai Motor Company solidified its position as a brand that leads the hydrogen-energy vision beyond being just an automobile manufacturer by unveiling the new hydrogen electric vehicle (EV), the All-New NEXO, for the first time in the world at the Seoul Mobility Show 2025.
The All-New NEXO is an eco-friendly hydrogen EV model that proves the reality of the hydrogen vision as a completely changed model compared with the first model launched in March 2018.
Hyundai Motor Company has implemented a new approach that reflects the material properties through reflecting the new design language, ‘Art of Steel,’ based on the hydrogen EV concept car, Inisium, unveiled in October last year.
The All-New NEXO has the strong image of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) while also having a unique design unique to hydrogen EVs.

The front daytime running lights (DRLs) and rear combination lamps feature the HTWO lamp symbol, which symbolizes the molecular formula for hydrogen (H2) and the axes of hydrogen (Hydrogen) and humanity (Humanity), and harmonizes with the three-dimensionally designed bumper to complete a bold yet sophisticated impression.
The side contour created with bold straight lines is combined with the cross-section of the arch structure that wraps around the side and rear to emphasize the solid and sturdy identity of the All-New NEXO.
Hyundai Motor Company applied a two-stage motor system equipped with two inverters to the All New NEXO, thereby increasing efficiency to 90%; and based on this, achieved a maximum motor output of 150kW.
This is a 1.3%p increase in system efficiency and a 25% increase in motor output compared to the existing model. During daily driving, one inverter operates, and during high-speed driving, both inverters operate, thereby providing optimal motor output according to the driving situations.
Based on this wide range of performance improvements, the All New NEXO achieved acceleration performance of 7.8 seconds from 0 km/h to 100 km/h, and is expected to be able to drive over 700 km with a short charging time of only about five minutes.

Hyundai Launches New Ioniq 6 EV
The New Ioniq 6 is a partially modified model of the Ioniq 6 released in September 2022. It inherits the concept of the ‘Electrified Streamliner,’ a new design type of Hyundai Motor Company’s electrification era ― but is newly born with a silhouette that maximizes the sleek image with more attractive curves and beautiful proportions.

The Ioniq 6 focused on connecting the body flow more precisely and naturally based on the evolved concept of ‘Pure flow, Refined.’
To achieve this, Hyundai Motor Company raised the starting point of the front hood of the New Ioniq 6 and improved the existing hood into a long hood with a shark-nose shape, creating an impression as if it were cutting through the air. The existing protruding spoiler was eliminated and the ducktail spoiler was extended to complete a sleek side contour while extending aerodynamic performance.

The new IONIQ 6 N Line, which was unveiled together, inherited the design DNA of the 22-year-old rolling lab, ‘RN22e,’ and added a sporty feel.
The bumper design with a garnish reminiscent of wings transforms the image of the New IONIQ 6 N Line into a sporty and aggressive one, and the side sill is emphasized with single-line wraps around the lower body, visually lowering the stance.
The interior design of the New IONIQ 6 was improved with an emphasis on the maintenance of the ‘Mindful Cocoon’ concept, with the focus on a more comfortable and intuitive user experience.

SAMSUNG SDI Begins Production of 46-Series Cylindrical Batteries

https://korean-machinery.com///inquiry

-Larger-sized cylindrical batteries produced for micro mobility and to be expanded for EVs
-Product-portfolio diversified with 46-series, giving the company market leadership

[INQ. NO. 2504M12] SAMSUNG SDI recently announced that the company has embarked on production of its 46-series cylindrical batteries with a diameter of 46 mm, known as the next generation of cylindrical batteries.
SAMSUNG SDI has become the first Korean battery maker to start supplying 46-series batteries for overseas customers and plans to expand its customer base with this announcement.
The company said it recently marked the first shipment of 4695 battery modules from its Vietnam subsidiary.
The 4695 batteries, measuring 46 mm in diameter and 95 mm in height, are produced at SAMSUNG SDI’s plant in Cheonan, South Korea, and assembled into modules at the Vietnam subsidiary. The modules will be initially supplied for an American customer for use in micro- mobility applications.
SAMSUNG SDI proudly announced that the company has begun production of the next-generation products more than a year earlier than planned, owing to its differentiated manufacturing competitiveness, technological edge, and quality management.
SAMSUNG SDI’s 46-series batteries feature high-nickel NCA (Nickel, Cobalt & Aluminum) cathode and proprietary SCN (Silicon Carbon Nanocomposite) anode.

With its cutting-edge chemistry, the company has heightened both energy-density and lifespan of the cylindrical products, while preventing the batteries from swelling, as part of strengthening safety.
SAMSUNG SDI has also adopted a tabless design for the 46-series, where the electrodes are connected directly to the current collectors without the need for traditional tabs. This has improved the current flow path and reduced internal resistance by 90 percent, thereby providing higher outage.
In addition, the 46-series batteries are about six-times larger in energy capacity than the predecessor 21700 series of batteries, with a diameter of 21 millimeters and a height of 70 millimeters, enabling customers to use fewer cells for the same capacity.
SAMSUNG SDI unveiled its 46-series lineup, consisting of four sizes (4680, 4695, 46100, and 46120) at InterBattery 2025, the largest battery industry show held in Korea, on March 5-7. The company announced that it would commence mass-production within the first quarter of this year.
The company is currently in talks with major EV manufacturers for supplying its 46-series batteries. With the launch of 4695 production, the company expects to supply batteries for EV makers in the near future.
According to market-researcher SNE Research, the global market for the 46-series cylindrical batteries is forecast to grow from 155GWh this year to 650GWh in 2030, at an annual growth rate of 33 percent.
“With the initial supply of 46-series batteries, we have diversified our product portfolio. We will continue with our efforts to take the lead in the 46-series market with differentiated manufacturing technology and quality,” a spokesperson for the company remarked.
