KOMMA to open its first Die-Casting Theme
Pavilion at SIMTOS 2024

The Korea Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (KOMMA), which hosts the Seoul International Manufacturing Technology Show (SIMTOS), Korea’s largest production and manufacturing technology exhibition, recently announced that it will be launching a Die-Casting Theme Pavilion to establish a digital manufacturing environment customized for demand industries during SIMTOS 2024.

Die-Casting, which has been stigmatized as a 3D (Dirty, Difficult, Dangerous) industry, despite being the foundation of manufacturing and driving new growth-engine industries, has recently changed its paradigm through ICT and robot-based automation and digitalization.

At SIMTOS 2024, the Die-Casting Theme Pavilion will be part of the Robot and Digital Manufacturing Technology Special Exhibition (M.A.D.E. in SIMTOS) to share these trend changes in the die-casting industry.
The Die-Casting Theme Pavilion, which will be held in Hall 7 and 8 of KINTEX, was planned jointly with the Korea Diecasting Society to share the current status and future of Korea’s die-casting industry. This theme pavilion will feature special casting facilities for filling molten metal at high speed and high pressure, die- casting molds, highly ductile alloy materials, and auxiliary materials such as release agents.
Companies participating in the theme pavilion are focusing on preparations to share with SIMTOS visitors the technological changes in the die-casting industry that is rapidly becoming automated and digitized.
A spokesperson for the Korea Diecasting Society explained, “Equipment, mold, and peripheral equipment companies participating in the Die-Casting Theme Pavilion will demonstrate in detail the digital processes that are processed and managed using the latest technology, which is different from before,” adding, “In particular, this exhibition through the theme pavilion is expected to be a good opportunity to show that the 3D industry is not a labor-intensive industry, but rather based upon robot automation and digitalization.”

RailLog Korea 2023

https://korean-machinery.com///inquiry

Biennially held since 2003, RailLog Korea is positioning itself as the latest and globally competitive venue for railway technology, interior fittings, infrastructure, and logistics. RailLog Korea is now ranked the world’s fourth-largest railway show, with 17,000 sqm of exhibition space.
The 11th edition of the fair will take place on June 14-17, 2023 at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Centre in Busan, South Korea. RailLog Korea presents great growth potential, thanks to the geographical benefits of Busan, as the very starting point and final destination of the Trans-Asian Railway (TAR) network.
Busan, a hub city where all logistics functions including railroad, port, air, and highways are integrated, is now emerging as the genuine hub for railways and logistics in Northeast Asia.

Review of RailLog Korea 2021
Because of travel restrictions due to COVID-19, only limited numbers of exhibitors from abroad were able to join the show, with all international brands represented by their local Korean sales offices. Nonetheless, RaiLog Korea still attracted 95 exhibitors (2019: 165) and an impressive 21,484 visitors (2019: 20,106).
Although it was not easy to attend RailLog Korea from abroad, interest in the show remained hotter than ever. Mr. Park Heong-joon, Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City, visited the fairground to celebrate the 10th edition. He remarked: “The importance of this 10th edition is significant. Taking place in Busan – the future center of transportation logistics in Northeast Asia and the gateway to the Eurasian continental railway, the fair remains the best place to showcase the technology of Korea’s railway industry. The organizers have made great efforts to comply with the quarantine rules to make it a safe and successful event.”
Representatives of foreign embassies and chambers of commerce from Europe, Africa, and several Asian countries also visited the show to mark the 10th edition, and familiarize themselves with the exhibition venue.

Mr. Dirk-Oliver Lukat, Chairperson of the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea was highly impressed with the show: “Particularly considering the pandemic, RailLog Korea 2021 was a huge success! We have appreciated the networking opportunities as well as the inspiring and innovative exhibition.”
Hyundai Rotem attracted visitors by exhibiting two models of its rolling stock. Notably, the company showcased a tram powered by hydrogen fuel cells, with visitors encouraged to inspect the carriages and watch detailed presentations on developments in hydrogen technologies. The company also demonstrated their high-speed EMU-320 train which is scheduled to be delivered to Korea’s public rail operator Korail.
Mr. Keum Changsun, Director of the Public Relations Department of SR – a railway service provider in Korea, discussed the exposure that RailLog Korea generates for its exhibitors, saying: “RailLog Korea has demonstrated that railway and related technologies in Korea are gradually becoming superior. The show has established itself as a bridge to promote the country’s excellent railway technology to the world.”
Woojin Industrial Systems was another big name to welcome visitors with their latest rolling stock, which is planned to be delivered to the Seoul Metro. The company’s Apollo 1100 electric bus was also exhibited for the first time at RaiLog Korea to reflect the latest eco-friendly trends in mobility.

TOOL TECH+SMART WELDING AUTOMATION FAIR2023

https://korean-machinery.com///inquiry

This fair will provide a unique opportunity for visitors to get a closer look at various aspects of both Korean and foreign tools, welding and the related industries — including the trends of related equipment industries and technology development of cutting tools — by displaying about 50,000 items. This will enable visitors to get a bird-eye-view of both Korean and foreign tools and related industries in their present and future status.
The exhibition has been held biennially since 1989 as a leading tools exhibition, and is now being held annually on the largest scale
at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX). Korea Tools
Industry Cooperative and Korea Welding Industry Cooperative will
hold the fair at KINTEX from Oct. 17 to 20, 2023

The exhibition is the only tool and welding-specialized exhibition in Korea that exhibits high-speed steel tools, carbide tools, and diamond tools —in addition to working tools, electric power tools, pneumatic tools, and other relevant tools. It takes place simultaneously together with KOREA METAL WEEK, KOAA-GTT SHOW and G-FAIR KOREA so that it will provide participants with long-lasting synergy effects.
The exhibition has been designated as a “Promising Exhibition” by the Korean government since 2003; as a “Supporting Exhibition” by Gyeonggi province; and “Int’l Endorsed Exhibition” by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE). This shows that the Korean government has recognized it as a high-level professional and promising exhibition.

Korea ranks 5th in the world in the motor industry that is a front/rear base of the tool industry; and in 5th place in the machine tools industry and the mold industry. The Korean tools market will be the center of the Asian tools market because it is forecasted to grow remarkably by more than 10% per year in various industries including shipbuilding, aircraft, semiconductors, electricity, electronics, construction, and the materials industry, etc.
Given these exciting prospects, the exhibition will be a good chance for visitors to understand the demands of the Korean tool market and relevant machinery markets, which are showing potential growth of 10% on average every year.
