Established in May 2000, Techcross has grown into a leading company in the field of Ballast Water Management Systema(BWMS) through continuous research and development. Techcross’ ECS (Electro-Cleen™ System) is one of the most effective disinfection systems using electrolysis. ECS treats all the incoming ballast water by in-situ production of hypochlorite with combined effects of electric shock and hydroxyl radical in the chamber unit.

The disinfection efficacy is powerful enough to comply with the IMO D-2 standards even at 0.5PSU in cold, fresh water. Moreover, ECS has been tested and certified to have no re-growth for 30 days after treatment by Korean Ocean Research & Development. Also, one-time treatment only during ballasting contributes to reduction in time and operating cost.

ECS guarantees strong disinfection efficacy without filtration system. Using filters involves higher maintenance cost and the risk of clogging. By contrast, ECS even without a filter can comply with IMO D-2 standards. This is just one of the advantages that differentiates ECS from other systems.

Compared with its competitors who treat ballast water at both ballasting and de-ballasting, ECS operates only onetime during ballasting. It means that ECS can guarantee the long-term performance and provide powerful disinfection efficacy. Indeed, hypochlorite, included in treated ballast water, help to prevent to re-growth of microorganisms in the ballast tank. Therefore, there is no need additional treatment after ballasting.

ECS requires no filter and moving parts, so pressure drop of pipes is only 0.2 bar. Therefore there is no need to change existing pumps or add another one. In case of power consumption, ECS is using approximately 1.7KW to treat 100m3/h normal sea water.

For easy operation, the operating system of ECS is automatic. It is also simple to install. The company designed its system as a modular type for convenient maintenance and simple installation so when one of any modules is out of order, it can be replaced with another spare module and keep operating without malfunction.

Now Techcross is sharing worldwide network with its various agents. As of August 8, 2012, Techcross has received orders for a total of 303 sets of ECS. Of these, 105 have already been delivered to world-renowned shipowners and shipyards such as NOL, AET, Rio Tinto, Delphins, Nile Dutch and OSC. Also, Techcross has abundant installation references regardless of vessel type, new-building and retrofit.
