Low-Pressure Physical Foaming Molding Machine

[INQ. NO. 2502M13] Woojin Plaimm’s low-pressure physical foaming molding machine (Super-Foam) is a foaming injection molding machine that uses micro-foaming of gas after dissolving inert gas in molten resin under a low pressure of 10 MPa or less and injecting it into a mold. Using the Super-Foam method, lightweight products can thus be produced with less energy.
The physical foaming method applied to Super-Foam is more environmentally friendly than the existing chemical foaming method, and allows for more stable product production. In the case of the chemical foaming method, high-hazard substances such as formamide and ammonia are generated during the decomposition process of the foaming agent, which have harmful effects on the human body of workers and the environment.
In addition, foaming begins inside the barrel at the point where the thermal or chemical decomposition of the foaming agent begins, so cell formation is not constant and product reproducibility is unstable.
In contrast, the physical foaming method does not generate gases harmful to the human body and the environment, and maintains constant pressure inside the barrel. Through this, the suppressed foam is injected into the mold to show uniform cell formation and stable product reproducibility.
A spokesperson for the company remarked “Super-Foam is a product that can simultaneously realize product-weight reduction and cost-reduction by controlling the foaming rate, as well as energy efficiency with low injection pressure,” adding, “It also improves products’ productivity and precision by minimizing mold modifications due to shrinkage, deformation, and compensation.”
Woojin Plaimm leads the innovation of technology in the field of plastic injection molding machines with its R&D centers in Austria and in Korea, which have developed well-advanced and state-of-the-art technology in collaboration with each other. Plaimm Woojin is conducting its business at more than 40 business sites around the world with its subsidiaries in the USA, Austria, Mexico, and China, which have played a pivotal role.
