WEA 2015

WEA 2015
Making Jeju Island the mecca of Asia’s wind power energy

This world now faces multiple critical situations against frequent natural destruction and energy depletion due to exhaustion of resources, global warming and greenhouse gas emissions. The alternative eco-natural energy development, utilizing solar thermal energy, wind power energy, wave power energy and water power energy has come to the fore.

WEA-2015 While these types of energy may be geographically limited, environment of windy island of Jeju is ideal for wind power energy development. Jeju Special Self-Governing Province has developed new renewable energy technology, producing low-carbon resources through on-shore wind power energy and off-shore wind power energy. The Jeju wind power plant project to build eco-future-city-Jeju has marked Jeju the mecca of Asia wind power from mecca of Korea wind power.

By holding three natural titles of UNESCO, Jeju Island has become an Asian tourism hub. Hosting Wind Energy Asia 2015 makes Juju Island becoming the hub of the Asian wind energy industry. Wind Energy Asia is the first certified outstanding exhibition in Jeju Island and it has been selected as a “locally specialized exhibition.”

Wind Energy Asia (WEA) 2015 recently ended after finishing three days of its official event schedules from Feb. 4 through Feb. 6 with a wider range of development than that of last year. It was co-hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the National Assembly, the New and Renewable Energy Search Forum, and Jeju Special Self- Governing Province.

As many as four thousands participants from the wind power industry, government officials, public and private enterprises and academia gathered for the international conference and exhibition. In particular, this WEA was highly meaningful in its history. Marking its third edition, it suggests a vision to solve the problems of the sharply depleted fossil fuel and the still excessively high rate of dependence on energy imports, and supplied a place by which the persons interested could discuss their roles and ways of boosting cooperation among them for the issues regarding energy. More than one hundred global wind power companies and over four thousands participants exchanged the latest technologies and information related to energy by utilizing the effectively established network.

As the nation’s only wind power-specialized exhibition, WEA played, as it was, as a venue for exchanging the latest wind power technologies. This year WEA was composed of four major sectors of New Technologies of Wind Power Energy through participation of system companies both from Korea and overseas, Korea-organized Export Consultation targeting professional buyers, Wind Power focused Conference, Wind Energy International Seminar attended by wind power professionals and businessmen in the Asia region in order to exchange the wind power status both in Korea and abroad.

Through the exhibition, wind turbines (sea surface wind turbines, big-sized wind turbines, small-sized wind turbines, systems and software (controlling technology, hybrid system, computer controlled MSR technology, safety systems, CMS, crane base installation, anti-corrosion switch installation technology, island system, measurement technology software, 3D measurement equipment, etc.), and parts (main shaft, tower, rotor blades, rotor hubs, transformers, gears, cables, cables conduits, lubricants, wind & water pumps, screws, bolts, etc.) are displayed, gaining keen attention among participants on the spot and inspiring them to develop new business more energetically and creatively than before.
