EV Thermal Management System

Hyundai Wia advances actively in the EV thermal management system market.
[INQ. NO. 2306E12] Hyundai Wia has moved proactively into the thermal management system market for electric vehicles.
Hyundai Wia recently announced that it has completed the development of a coolant hub module, one of the thermal management systems for electric vehicles, and started production. The production scale is up to 210,000 units per year at Hyundai Wia’s Changwon Plant 1 located in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do.
According to Hyundai Wia, this coolant hub module is installed in Kia’s EV9 and Hyundai Motor’s all-new Kona Electric.
The developed cooling water hub module is a component that helps to efficiently manage the heat of electric vehicle batteries, driving devices, and electric components. In addition, it increases the efficiency by functionally integrating a separate device responsible for cooling the driving parts and the battery.
In addition, the installation volume was reduced by integrating parts that used to function separately. It integrates functions such as a ‘reservoir tank’ that serves as a coolant replenishment, an electric water pump, and a valve. Through this feature, it is possible to properly maintain the temperature of the battery and manage the heat generated from driving parts such as motors and inverters at an appropriate temperature.

Hyundai Wia pointed out that it has improved reliability by conducting a total of 53 evaluations of individual units, modules, and vehicles in the development stage, such as ‘intermittent variable speed tests,’ and ‘thermal shock tests,’ through which the coolant circulation was verified under various vibration and temperature conditions.
By 2025, based on the mass-production of the cooling water hub module, it plans to develop an ‘Integrated Thermal Management System’ that encompasses motors, batteries, and indoor air conditioning. for dental hospitals. The basic structure of the product is simply
composed of a turbo-fan wing and a cylinder.
Water-sealed vacuum pumps are well-suited for processes in which the incoming air contains corrosive gases or large amounts of water by vacuuming in a sealed state with liquid inside a cylinder.
