‘Seoul Mobility Show’ Replaces Seoul Motor Show in Line with E-Mobility and Self-Driving

The event is to be held at KINTEX on the outskirts of Seoul on November 25

‘Seoul Motor Show’, the largest general automobile exhibition in Korea, is to be rebranded as the ‘Seoul Mobility Show’ in line with the trend of e-mobility and self-driving.
The Organizing Committee of Seoul Motor Show recently held a meeting at the Automobile Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul, and decided to change the name to Seoul Mobility Show.
The Organizing Committee that consists of the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA), the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association (KAIDA), and the Korea Auto Industries Coop. Association (KAICA) has agreed to lend more weight to ‘Mobility’ in line with the trend of e-mobility and self-driving for carbon neutrality and in accordance with the expansion of urban air mobility (UAM), robots and other completed vehicle industries.
Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung (IAA), a German automobile event held in September, also changed the event name to ‘IAA Mobility 2021’ to focus on future transportation means.

The Committee is thus planning to set up the new exhibition contents, focusing on cutting-edge technologies and eco-friendly mobility including autonomous driving, IT-converged technology, ‘infortainment,’ EVs, hydrogen vehicles, etc., so as to clearly showcase the characteristics and identity of Seoul Mobility Show. Accordingly, the Committee plans to hold the Seoul Mobility Award, forums, seminars, mobility test drive events, etc., under the theme of mobility.

“We’d like to extend our thanks to those companies for participating in the event despite difficult situations arising from continued COVID-19, instable supply and demand of semiconductors used for vehicles around the world,” explained a spokesperson for the Committee, adding “We will do all we can to hold a successful Seoul Mobility Show representing a domestic mobility-specified technology exhibition ‒ as the automobile industry is focusing on self-driving, hydrogen vehicles and other future cars and new platform service providers, robots, UAM, and other new means of transportation are coming onto the market.”

Meanwhile, the Show is to be held at KINTEX in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea for 11 days starting from Press Day on November 25 until December 5. Seoul Motor Show, which is the only international motor show officially recognized by International Organization of Automobile Manufacturers (OICA) in Korea, has been held biennially in every odd-numbered year since 1995.
