Currently, it is playing a major role in the domestic industrial power supply market.

In 2007, Power Plaza declared its “Environment Friendly Management Policy” and secured technical skills for electric vehicles through the power-train solution research and EV conversion business based on its accumulated power electronics technology.

Furthermore, Power Plaza has developed “PEACE (0.5 ton electric pick-up truck)” and obtained the national certification from KATRI (Korea Automobile Testing & Research Institute) of Korea Transportation Safety Authority for commercialization.

https://korean-machinery.com///inquiry From 2015, the Ministry of Environment has appointed “PEACE” for its public supply of electric vehicles, so now it is striving to supply the very best eco-friendly electric car.

Power Plaza has adopted high-quality software and hardware for the development of electric vehicles and aims to develop new technology safely and constantly with reliability

Yebbujana R was recently released featuring adding traditional roadster design to future-oriented technology. Yebbujana R, with both its unique dolphin-shaped front and dynamics as well as elegant curve-shaped rear, is drawing plenty of attention.

Through the one-piece monocoque method, it highlights the beauty and simplicity of the body accentuating the elegant curve to the maximum. Kang Min-sung (a top designer) has created and directed the overall design of Yebbujana R.

Driving distance of 571 kilometers on one charge is due to the 54kWh battery and carbon fiber construction, which makes it lighter by up to 745 kg. Powertrain is applied to Bosch’s 80kW motor and inverter . And manual transmission is used too, so it has a maximum speed of 198 km/h an hour and can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds.

The battery pack consists of 18650 battery cell which has safety and high performance as serial-parallel system such as Tesla Model S.

Power Plaza plans to unveil the next-generation Yebbujana R at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany in the second half of the year.

PEACE, half-ton pickup truck which the Ministry of Environment adopted as public supply

PEACE, an electric pick-up truck which is supplied first nationally was displayed at the Seoul Motor Show. Power Plaza has developed environment friendly electric vehicles since 2007 and succeeded in the development of a half-ton and one-ton electric pick-up truck in 2009. But the car was a “test bed” to develop power module for electric cars, so it is not suitable for national standard.

From the end of 2011, Power Plaza has developed a commercial light electric car which is suitable for national regulation and started sales through R&D for two years and certification process for one year. Power Plaza received applications from 21 customers on Jeju island, which is more than the allocated 15 pcs during 15 days from March 6 to March 20. The price for the PEACE is set at 36.9 million won and Jeju residents can receive subsidy of 17 million won and a battery charger from the Government.

The-nation’s-first-roadster,-Yebbujana-R_2 It is expected to sell in Seoul and on Jeju island as a pilot project this year and Power Plaza received applications during the Seoul Motor Show also. In Seoul, customers will receive subsidy of 18 million won and battery charger from the Government. Corporation and individual businesspersons can get a tax rebate.

PEACE is equipped with 26kW induction motor, so performance is maximum output of 35ps and maximum load weight of 500 kgs. It is equipped with 17.8 kWh lithium-ion battery and can travel 67.5 kilometers on one charge. Power Plaza will release PEACE which can travel 100km on single charge in 2015. Battery charging time is about four hours.

Regarding warranty, battery, motor and inverter is 7 years or 150,000 km and lifetime free service of EV component is ensured.

PEACE is used to manual transmission considering improvement of climbing performance as well as energy efficiency and gear shift is the same of normal engine car. Safety driving speed is 80km/h.

PEACE is a car of purpose of parcel cargo and for a small trader from the first stage of production. It will attract attention from a farmer, a small trader and individual businesspersons.

Powertrain of 1 ton pick-up truck, as the next generation

Power Plaza unveiled the e-Powertrain of its one-ton truck as the next generation pickup at the 2015 Seoul Motor Show. The one-ton electric pick-up truck has great market potential and air quality improvement. This truck is equipped with 100kW brushless motor, so it has maximum horsepower of 136hp and maximum torque of 30kgf.m. A 54kWh motor is fitted, so one can travel about 150km on a single charge. Increasing ratio of local market dominance by imported cars

Korea’s smallsized car markets are being dominated by imported ones following the pattern of highend vehicles. According to the recent data released by auto circles, the imported cars with an engine displacement of 2,000 cc or less sold 79,411 units from January to September this year, up 28.4 percent from 61,839 units in the same period of last year.

Industry-TrendsThe imported small-sized cars’ portion, of the total sales of imported cars, jumped 4.1 percentage points from 49.4 percent in 2012 to 53.5 percent in 2013. It has been on a rise with 54.5 percent in September this year. In the meantime, sales of domestic cars with the same engine size fell 3.2 percent from 168,925 units in 2013 to 163,517 units in 2014.

By type, accumulative sales of Hyundai Motor’s ‘Accent’ for the January-October period declined 22.8 percent year-on-year(Y.O.Y.) and those of Kia’s ‘Pride’ went down 20.9 percent. Sales of quasi-mid-sized car ‘Avante’ and ‘K3’ also dropped 5.4 percent and 9.2 percent, each. It is notable that the market size of local compact cars is only beoming smaller in spite of the overall growth of local car market. This is attributable to the comparative less investment led by local car makers in compact cars than on the larger cars, which have more potentiality in generating economic profits than compact cars).

Three kinds of obstacles facing Korean exports

South Korean exports are facing three kinds of difficulties. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are suffering in the face of the yen’s decrease amid their trade dependence on certain nations such as China is increasingly growing. After the rapid export growth of automobiles and cell phones, which have driven the nation’s exports for two to three years, the nation is still exploring new growth engines other than semiconductors. This unstable status of the export environment is thus posing a threat to the Korean economy.

Korean exporters are on alert over fluctuations of foreign exchange rate, which determine their price competitiveness and profitability. As the yen is decelerating at a faster speed with the US’s end of quantitative easing programs, Korea’s exports to Japan during the January-September period recorded $23.5 billion, down 4.1 percent from the same period a year ago. The yen’s drop is leading the nation’s companies to risk losing their competitiveness in the United States and EU.

obstacles-facing-Korean-exports The devaluation of the yen is also serving as an obstacle to Korean exports to China. The decision to extend the Korea-China currency swap deal is part of efforts to offset the weaker yuan. Amid the stronger won and weaker yen in the first half of this year, the won-yuan exchange rate appreciated as much as 9.3 percent.

Against the expectations that conclusions of a series of promising free trade agreements would broaden the nation’s trade territory, trade dependency on specific areas is growing. The trade balance with the EU already exceeded a $6.5 deficit in September this year while the trade deficit with the EFTA is expected to reach $3.9 billion this year.
