AAPEX 2014

AAPEX 2014 will ensure a highly productive business venue for Korean auto part makers

Korea’s vehicle production in August fell by 20.6% over the same month in 2013 to 272,744 units. For the first eight months, production rose by 2.1% over a year earlier to 3,024,538units.

In spite of recovering consumer confidence, domestic sales in August declined by 4.0% year-on-year to 106,645units, due to fewer working days. Cumulative domestic sales in the January- August period climbed by 3.6% to 947,559 units. Exports in August fell by 18.8% over the same month last year to 182,795 units. The cumulative exports in the first eight months of the year grew by 0.1% compared with the same period last year to 2,046,811units.

The continuously growing preference for auto part products from Korea from buyers in the region proves reliability on product quality accumulated over a considerable period.

AAPEX-2014 The quality of Korean products increased enough to substitute other top-quality brands from Germany and Japan, indicating that the nation’s items are growing their own wings in the global market, coupled by the help received from the effects of the Korea-U.S. FTA. For the forthcoming fair, some numbers of Korean makers – specialized in such specific areas of wiper blades, voltage regulators, sintering parts, and various kinds of spare parts are making a positive impression in global industry circles and will present numerous strengths those solutions offer.

Korean makers’ expectation towards global potential markets

Korean makers’ expectation towards global potential markets to continue riding on the recovery mode on demand from global regional markets

focus

Korea’s vehicle production in July climbed by 22.4% compared with the same month last year to 409,283 units. In spite of reduced consumer confidence and growing demand for imported cars, domestic sales in July rose by 1.9% over a year earlier, due to the recently introduced models such as the redesigned Carnival minivan and the diesel-powered version of the sedans Grandeur and SM5.

Exports in July increased by 16.0% compared with the same month last year to 266,741 units, due to the expansion of supply partly with the effects of tariff lowering on Korean cars exported to the EU through the Korea-EU FTA.

Korean car component makers are hoping anticipated special orders from the United States will enter a cycle of recovery seen early this year in earnest. In fact, America’s three top car makers – GM, Ford, and Chrysler – already officially expressed their intention to expand the import of the automotive parts made by Korean companies. Korean makers’ advances into the giant market are thus expected to be active.

The growing popularity of Korean makers-made automotive parts is based on the enhanced quality of those enough to substitute the global high quality products, even also those from Germany, Japan. And the possibility of cost savings by the tariff-cuts benefits by the Korea-U.S. FTA backs up such anticipation.

A spokesperson for Korea’s automotive part industry recently said “Recently the exports of Korean-made products to the United States market is growing riding on the activation of the automotive market by the recovery mode of the economy. Especially as Korean products are high quality when compared to prices, inquiries regarding Korean items are more intensive than those by other foreign makers.”

Korean automakers’ recent active moves to advance into overseas markets are gaining attention. Representatively, Hyundai Motor will be building car production plants in Chongqing in central China and Cangzhou city in Hebei province near Beijing. The automaker’s annual output in China is expected to jump to 1.65 million units from 1.05 million and it would thus be able to more swiftly respond to the regional demand.

MIMS2014

MIMS2014 to play an invaluable role in supporting the revitalization of the Korean auto industry

A recent Korean automotive industry survey shows continued sluggish trends in terms of production, exports and imports. S. Korea’s vehicle production in June decreased by 4.5% over a year earlier to 380,456 units due to a reduction of exports, in spite of domestic sales increases. Meanwhile, production in the first half of the year was up 2.6% to 2,342,578 units. Domestic sales in June grew by 6.8% year-onyear due to the introduction of new models including a diesel sedan, and sustained high demand for SUVs.

Exports in the same month dropped by 8.2% to 254,675 units compared with the same month of last year, affected by the strong Korean Won and Chevrolet’s withdrawal plans from the EU market, with depressed markets in some countries in Eastern Europe and Latin America. Exports in the first six months of the year are increased by 0.4% to 1,596,198 units.

mims2014Korea’s auto makers and automotive part makers are scheduled to promote their eye-catching items in Moscow through exhibiting at the upcoming MIMS2014, which is to be held from August 26 to 28 in Moscow’s Expocentre, featuring a wider range of spare parts, components, and equipment for vehicle servicing.

Korea’s SMBA policy

Supported by Korea’s SMBA policy, SMEs boost national economic growth

South Korea has succeeded in accomplishing US$1 trillion in trade volume in 2013 for the third consecutive year while retaining the world’s eighth-largest trade giant status in the global market.

There are a great number of South Korean enterprises behind such an amazing historical achievement. Among numerous contributors, the contributions of small and medium-sized enterprises – three million SMEs in Korea, which have played pivotal roles in the national economy, accounting for 99.9% of all enterprises, 87.7% of all employees (10.8 million employees), and 47.6% of production -deserve special mention, in spite of their comparatively low ratio of the overall economy compared to large conglomerates like Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor, etc.

smba

With their independent consistent utmost efforts for expanding their presence in the global market and favorable export conditions created mainly by FTAs signed by Korea with other countries, Korean SMEs have seen slightly expanded volume of exports to foreign markets amid the global slowdown in consumption – especially in the area of automotive parts.

South Korean SMEs have played an important role in boosting the nation’s economic performance through directly exporting their flagship export items to global markets and helping exports of finished goods of the larger-sized Korean enterprises by supplying parts products to them.

There has been remarkable government-level policy behind SMEs’ contribution to the nation’s economic progress. The Small and Medium Business Administration (SMBA) has been implementing policies that are aimed to help strengthen the export capacity of South Korean SMEs.

This policy is focused on boosting the gradual increase of SMEs’ export volume by supplying various kinds of specific services promoting exports of SMEs including education, design, global market information supply, marketing, market research, strategy consulting, global brand development, etc.

Under this support policy, last year, more than 1,600 Korean SMEs could enjoy direct and indirect benefits by expanding their presence in global markets through being intensively, frequently, effectively, and strategically exposed to global business partners by supported export boosting services.
