Fire-Suppression Equipment for Electric Vehicles

https://korean-machinery.com///inquiry

[INQ. NO. 2306E02] A medium-sized company is attracting attention by developing equipment that effectively suppresses electric vehicle (EV) fires.
VISCARE CO., LTD. developed a water tank trailer for fire suppression and a watering device that penetrates the battery case last year, and completed all prototype production after applying for patents at home and abroad. Currently, efforts are being made to spread its use to the frontlines of firefighting sites.
The water tank trailer for fire suppression developed by the company has the advantage of being able to easily enter underground parking lots when using a small tow truck because it is designed with a low vehicle weight. Therefore, in Korea, where most of the electric charging facilities are installed in underground parking lots, using this product is expected to be able to respond to a wide range of EV fires.

The battery case penetrating watering device is a portable device equipped with a hollow drill in a hydraulic motor. This equipment penetrates the battery pack case under the vehicle and sprays fire suppressant water directly onto the battery cells. By injecting fireextinguishing water closest to the fire point, the efficiency of the battery cell’s cooling and extinguishing is excellent. Above all, it has the advantage of being manufactured and developed to ensure the maximum safety of firefighters. In addition, the battery-case-penetrating water sprinkler is designed to effectively extinguish EV fires even in sites where it is difficult for a water tank trailer to enter, and when used together with a water tank trailer, the fire-suppression efficiency is expected to increase even more.
Lee Jeong-min, CEO of the company, stressed “Our EV fire-suppression method is based on innovative practical technology developed by looking at the current situations in Europe and the United States, as well as in Korea. There are many difficulties as local SMEs pursue development, production, and publicity on their own. We desperately need the interest and support of many people, including firefighters.”

Korean Companies’ Ceaseless Efforts to PromoteAdvanced Export Items

https://korean-machinery.com///inquiry

Korea’s exports decreased for seven consecutive months until April this year in the aftermath of the prolonged economic slump in the semiconductor sector, which produces the nation’s main export product.
Exports of automobiles also increased in April, but failed to make up for the slump in semiconductors, petrochemicals, and displays.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) recently announced that the total amount of Korea’s exports in April was calculated at US$49.62 billion, which was a 14.2% decrease from April 2022.

As a result, the monthly export volume decreased from the same period last year for seven consecutive months from October 2022. In addition, the export scale in April was down from March 2023 ($55.1 billion).
Amidst this overall situation, Korean exporters are continuously making earnest efforts, including releasing new advanced items, to access new potential markets and thereby elevate their global brand awareness.
LS Mtron Co., Ltd., a global company specializing in injection molding machines, recently launched its new WIZ-VR II series. The WIZ-VR II series shortens process time and improves productivity by simultaneously executing product take-out and insertion processes in the injection process.
Hyundai Wia recently completed the development of a coolant hub module, one of the thermal management systems for electric vehicles, and started production. The production scale is up to 210,000 units per year at Hyundai Wia’s Changwon Plant 1 located in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do. According to Hyundai Wia, this coolant hub module is installed in Kia’s EV9 and Hyundai Motor’s all-new Kona Electric.

SJE Corporation Ltd. has continuously upgraded its high-pressure steam washers that can clean floors, walls, machinery, and equipment of food factories using high-temperature steam, and thus maintain a clean environment. This product is effective for food safety, as it can clean contaminants and sterilize at the same time by spraying high-temperature, powerful steam without using chemicals.

RailLog Korea 2023

https://korean-machinery.com///inquiry

Biennially held since 2003, RailLog Korea is positioning itself as the latest and globally competitive venue for railway technology, interior fittings, infrastructure, and logistics. RailLog Korea is now ranked the world’s fourth-largest railway show, with 17,000 sqm of exhibition space.
The 11th edition of the fair will take place on June 14-17, 2023 at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Centre in Busan, South Korea. RailLog Korea presents great growth potential, thanks to the geographical benefits of Busan, as the very starting point and final destination of the Trans-Asian Railway (TAR) network.
Busan, a hub city where all logistics functions including railroad, port, air, and highways are integrated, is now emerging as the genuine hub for railways and logistics in Northeast Asia.

Review of RailLog Korea 2021
Because of travel restrictions due to COVID-19, only limited numbers of exhibitors from abroad were able to join the show, with all international brands represented by their local Korean sales offices. Nonetheless, RaiLog Korea still attracted 95 exhibitors (2019: 165) and an impressive 21,484 visitors (2019: 20,106).
Although it was not easy to attend RailLog Korea from abroad, interest in the show remained hotter than ever. Mr. Park Heong-joon, Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City, visited the fairground to celebrate the 10th edition. He remarked: “The importance of this 10th edition is significant. Taking place in Busan – the future center of transportation logistics in Northeast Asia and the gateway to the Eurasian continental railway, the fair remains the best place to showcase the technology of Korea’s railway industry. The organizers have made great efforts to comply with the quarantine rules to make it a safe and successful event.”
Representatives of foreign embassies and chambers of commerce from Europe, Africa, and several Asian countries also visited the show to mark the 10th edition, and familiarize themselves with the exhibition venue.

Mr. Dirk-Oliver Lukat, Chairperson of the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea was highly impressed with the show: “Particularly considering the pandemic, RailLog Korea 2021 was a huge success! We have appreciated the networking opportunities as well as the inspiring and innovative exhibition.”
Hyundai Rotem attracted visitors by exhibiting two models of its rolling stock. Notably, the company showcased a tram powered by hydrogen fuel cells, with visitors encouraged to inspect the carriages and watch detailed presentations on developments in hydrogen technologies. The company also demonstrated their high-speed EMU-320 train which is scheduled to be delivered to Korea’s public rail operator Korail.
Mr. Keum Changsun, Director of the Public Relations Department of SR – a railway service provider in Korea, discussed the exposure that RailLog Korea generates for its exhibitors, saying: “RailLog Korea has demonstrated that railway and related technologies in Korea are gradually becoming superior. The show has established itself as a bridge to promote the country’s excellent railway technology to the world.”
Woojin Industrial Systems was another big name to welcome visitors with their latest rolling stock, which is planned to be delivered to the Seoul Metro. The company’s Apollo 1100 electric bus was also exhibited for the first time at RaiLog Korea to reflect the latest eco-friendly trends in mobility.

FOEX Trade Center Emerging as a Leader in a NewConcept of Trade Methods

https://korean-machinery.com///inquiry

Acting as a bridge between state agencies and businesses
Creation of the world’s first semi-public private enterprise
FOEX Trade Center was established in 2017 with the awareness of the need for a company to create a business in the middle ground between state institutions and companies amid intensifying competitions within each group in modern times.
FOEX Trade Center is creating business between government agencies and companies by proposing mutual trade, cultural and sports exchanges, and educational exchanges through import and export consultations — to government agencies, public institutions, and state-owned companies located in China.

Promotion of a new concept trade market in the FTA era
Kim Seung-su, chairman of FOEX Trade Center, invented a new term called Trade Direct Dealing (TDD), a new concept trade method that transforms individual marketing into integrated marketing for small and medium-sized manufacturers.

Chairman Kim explained, “The FOEX Trade Center will gradually expand its business scope into global supply chains as the first step in September this year through the role of the purchasing agency by exhibiting samples such as building materials, furniture, etc. – in collaboration with the city of Fuoshan, China. The Republic of Korea has the largest economic territory in the world with FTAs in place with 59 countries around the world, including Indonesia, which was added from January 2, 2023, and it is thus necessary to attract foreign capital based on this.”

Building of the world’s first offline export/import
network for industrial goods The chairman added, “In the concept of a trade market, the operation of a permanent trade center that enables regular buyer matching and import/ export consultations is important, rather than just
being limited to an event-type trade fair.”
FOEX Trade Center plans to build a global supply chain centered on purchasing agency in Saemangeum by linking up small and medium-sized manufacturing companies in the world with integrated marketing, which is weak in marketing, through utilizing offline platforms such as O2O, B2B, and B2B2C for industrial goods, which are impossible for export and import in B2B in Alibaba and B2B2C in Amazon.

Promotion of MCN Special Economic Zone in
Saemangeum
He suggested the socalled Saemangeum MCN Special Economic Zone for the establishment of a strategic export and import base for young people’s entrepreneurship and employment while first using the term Multi Channel Network (MCN) in the 2022 presidential election pledge proposal, and thus to create a youth digital economic city in Saemangeum.
