Mg-based Hybrid Hydrogen Storage Alloy

Existing methods of storing hydrogen include high-pressure hydrogen storage systems and liquid-hydrogen storage systems, both of which have their own merits and demerits.


Hydrolux Inc. has developed a solid hydrogen storage system based on the technology used to manufacture a low-pressure and high-capacity hydrogen storage alloy that can reduce storage space while increasing safety — unlike the existing methods.


To put it simply, the company’s technology works in very much the same way as a sponge does. When a sponge is immersed in water, it absorbs water while not changing its shape. As such, the sponge is like the hydrogen storage alloy, and the water is like hydrogen.
